The CP Officer oversees, coordinates and monitors case management and mental health psychosocial services and ensures boys and girls who are at risk receive quality services.

The CP Officer is also responsible for training and supervising the CP case Workers, coordinating with humanitarian partners in the field, and ensure proper utilization of the referral pathway. The CP Officer will apply and support case work in a survivor-cantered approach to ensure that the clients’ wishes are respected, and their safety and confidentiality are always preserved through the case management process. S/he will supervise the community mobilization and case management teams on a day-to-day basis to ensure quality program implementation.

 Duties and responsibilities:
  • Reinforce adherence to child protection guiding principles throughout all CP activities.
  • Ensure that engagement with boys, girls and the wider community adheres to best-practice principles when working with child at risk.
  • Establish and maintain confidential record keeping system for individual cases which includes copies of all appropriate documents and relevant data
  • Directly supervise CP Case Workers.
  • Prepare and maintain/update detailed work plan(s) that support and achieve activities.
  • Provide direct support and ongoing mentoring to CP Case Workers as they provide services to boys and girl at risk. This will include Provision of mental health and Psychosocial support services including provision of Psychological first aid, clinical counselling and recreational, social and life skills interventions for children and adolescents.
  • assessment of client needs; basic, crisis counseling (and in some contexts further individual counseling); development of action plans with clients; support to clients in pursuing services and support.
  • Develop and implement a series of age-appropriate and specialized group emotional services to be provided to vulnerable boys and girls, with an emphasis on meeting the needs of survivors.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement standard operating procedures and monitor referral pathway to ensure survivor’s ability to receive confidential, safe, and timely services that meets their needs.
  • Oversee and provide guidance for age appropriate and relevant psychosocial activities for boys and girls.
  • Establish and strengthen community-based referral systems between various sectors of response for survivors primarily health and psychosocial referrals based upon the survivor’s choice
  • Provide support to local partner(s) as necessary, particularly via trainings and field visits with psychosocial counselors.
  • Mentor and support staff professional development and foster a positive team spirit to encourage innovative and quality programming.
  • Identify training needs for CP Case Workers and support organization and facilitation of training to meet those needs, in collaboration with the CP Manager.
  • Review CP case management forms (Identification and registration, assessment, case planning, implementation, safety, follow up and enter the data in to the CPIMS system.
  • Ensure the existence of a confidential space for case management and individual counselling as per the standard.

Coordination & Representation: 

  • Identify concerns related to and support adherence to referral protocols by all relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain positive relationship with Community leaders at all levels.
  • Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other IRC sector staff.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and three-month work plans in a timely manner, and incorporate supervisor feedback as requested.
  • Compile monthly activity report for submission to the CP Manager.
  • Contribute to a positive team spirit among all IRC staff.
  • Ensure all relevant financial documentation is completed accurately as required by IRC finance policy.
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • Technical degree in psychology, counseling, or other relevant degree.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in social work, child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), Case management and psychosocial support, community development and/or humanitarian work.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or interest in contributing to and promoting early childhood development and the importance of positive parenting and enabling environments, especially in relation to child protection and child rights.
  • Experience with multi-stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral) in English.
  • Demonstrated track record in report writing and documentation.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse professional backgrounds
