Description

Save the Children’s office in Sudan is seeking to recruit five Community Mobilizers specialized in Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) supporting the implementation of a large-scale RCCE health campaign. The intervention is funded by GAVI, one of the key donors in the health sector.

Are you an experienced community mobilizer? Are you passionate about improving the health of communities and enjoy communicating with different people? Do you easily build and maintain good relationships with various stakeholders? Are you able to work under pressure and within a very limited time frame?

With the technical guidance of the Social Behavioral Change and Community Engagement Technical Advisor and under the supervision of the RCCE Coordinator, you will be responsible for implementing a wide range of RCCE activities. These activities will involve many direct interactions with communities in Khartoum state.

This position will be based in Khartoum with 90% work in the programme sites within Khartoum state and 10% office-based work.

This is a large-scale project, which will be implemented within a limited time frame (six months).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementing various RCCE health campaign activities within Khartoum state
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with key stakeholders, mainly the communities, but also government, media outlets, artists and partner organizations under the supervision of the RCCE project manager and RCCE coordinator
  • Training of volunteers
  • Ensuring the quality of the implementation of the RCCE components under the supervision of the RCCE project manager and RCCE coordinator
  • In collaboration with the MEAL team, supporting the monitoring and evaluation of the RCCE activities
  • Supporting the documentation of all RCCE health campaign activities in collaboration with consultants and the RCCE project manager within Khartoum state
  • Providing direct support to the consultants and suppliers implementing the activities (eg musicians, artists, theatre groups)
  • Close coordination with the health team activities under the supervision of the RCCE coordinator

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Very strong coordination skills
  • Minimum three years’ experience in the role of a community mobilizer
  • Experience in implementing RCCE interventions
  • Experience in delivering trainings
  • Work experience in an international organisation
  • Very strong skills in building relevant work relationships with all stakeholders
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Team player
  • Aware with the dynamics in the Sudanese rural, urban and Semi-urban contexts
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good reporting and documentation skills

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • University degree in a social science field, including management studies OR relevant long-term work experience
  • Experience in coordinating RCCE health campaigns
