Description

Background:

Purpose of the Consultancy:

UNFPA is the lead agency for gender based violence in Sudan. There is a lack of data and information on GBV, and as recognized by the GBV working group which UNFPA leads, more systematic and nation-wide data on GBV is necessary. To respond to this, UNFPA is leading Voices of Sudan, a qualitative assessment of GBV in Sudan, which will be rolled out between June and December 2020. The report will be divided into three sections: 1) a brief outline of methodological approaches 2) the key findings, by specific types of GBV 3) key findings by state. The final report will be based on quotes from respondents. The methodology for the assessment consists of focus group discussions, with subject matter experts (around 18 in total) and with communities (around 216), and a desk review of other available sources. The final report will be based on quotes from respondents. The data will provide a base line for the Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) and the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) for 2021 as well as for future GBV programmes in Sudan. The assessment will also be an advocacy tool for donors, a mechanism to identify gaps in the prevention and response, as well as a tool to raise awareness. In order to complete this report, the UNFPA Sudan Country Office is looking for a consultant to support the data collection, data entry and analysis for the 2020 Voices report.

As part of the data collection efforts by UNFPA, the consultant will also support with the roll out of a satisfaction survey. An ECHO-funded project on GBV coordination requires the roll-out of a survey, at national and state-level (for 3 states) to assess the satisfaction of members of GBV coordination groups with the groups. The consultant will develop, roll out and analyze the results of the survey
