ZOA is looking for a Director of Programmes Sudan

ZOA’s Programme in Sudan

ZOA started working in Sudan in 2004 in response to the Darfur crisis. In 2010, programmes in the East of the country were also opened. Currently, ZOA has five offices and a portfolio that varies from humanitarian emergency to developmental projects. Main sectors are Integrated Water Resources Management, Food Security and Livelihoods, Peacebuilding, Inclusiveness for people living with disability, Emergency Relief and Education. Adaptation to climate change, migration, gender and conflict sensitivity issues are mainstreamed. ZOA Sudan has been leading large scale consortia projects and is strongly embedded in the different project areas.

Your challenge

The Director of Programmes (DoP) is responsible for the realisation of all project and programme goals in ZOA’s programme country Sudan.

Your main tasks and responsibilities

You will be responsible for the overall leadership and integral management responsibility of the programmatic aspects of ZOA in Sudan.

Leadership and management

  • Supervises and appraises the performance of Programme Managers, Programme Advisor and other senior staff of the Programme department;
  • Represents all programmes in the country in the Country Management Team;
  • Spiritual oversight and leadership of the various programme teams.
  • Lead country wide programme and knowledge development;
  • Implementing and strategic partnership engagement at country level;
  • Gender and conflict sensitive approach to team management and country programme under her/his responsibility.

Programme Management

  • Development of the programme plan for ZOA Sudan, with annual review of needs for changes, based on ongoing context analysis and results of annual programme review;
  • Annual planning for ZOA Sudan, with the corresponding annual programme budget, as an input to the Country Strategic Annual Plan (CSAP);
  • Overall responsible, together with Programme Managers, for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of donor approved projects;
  • Overall responsible, together with Programme Advisor, for MEAL and the design and implementation of robust systems and procedures regarding programme management;
  • Overseeing that Project Cycle Management is adhered to in ZOA Sudan;
  • Consolidate reporting - monthly and quarterly activity and financial reporting, including realization of activities versus budget utilisation; (providing input to) narrative and financial donor reporting;
  • Annual review of progress towards programme objectives and outcomes;
  • Initiating and maintaining effective working relations with relevant stakeholders at country level;
  • Overall responsible, together with Country Director and Programme Advisor, for resource mobilization and business development.

HR/admin/finance

  • Final budget owner for projects implemented in ZOA Sudan;
  • Human Resource Management (at individual- and team level) for programme managers and other senior programme staff;
  • Supervision and periodical evaluation of the performance of Programme Managers and other senior programme staff;
  • Overseeing the implementation and monitoring of financial, personnel and security policies and procedures in the programme portfolio of ZOA Sudan.

Security

  • Ensures the design and maintenance of an effective security management system at country programme level, in compliance with ZOA’s over-all security policy and procedures, and the monitoring of compliance to that system by staff and other relevant persons for whom you hold security responsibility.

Your profile

Identity

  • The candidate is expected to fully support the vision, mission and Christian values of ZOA.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • University degree in a humanitarian, development or other relevant field;
  • Ten years field experience in a development country, preferably in a conflict/post-conflict setting;
  • Management experience;
  • Familiar with Project Cycle Management;
  • Strong command of English, preferably knowledge of Arabic.
