PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The eLearning and Development Specialist is a uniquely skilled, passionate, international development and adult learning professional who brings with them experience in coordination, design and facilitation of both synchronous and asynchronous online learning for technical programming staff. This role will work alongside the Technical Academy Manager, Project Model Leads, Subject Matter Experts, eFacilitators, Instructional Designers and the Course Managers to design, implement and scale-up the WV online learning approach. You will contribute to our approach to online learning, work with key stakeholders to determine learning and development needs and work alongside subject matter experts and consultants to design and deliver solutions that drive performance and continually increase program effectiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Model Engagement and Collaboration:

  • Keep up to date with Project Model developments via internal channels including Newsletters, Communities of Practice and attending PM / SME lead webinars / forums etc.
  • Establish and maintain contact with Project Model Leads and key Subject Matter Experts through Learning Pathway Focus Group.

Liaise and Coach Subject Matter Experts to prepare efacilitators:

  • Work alongside the TATA training administrator and Project Model Leads to identify and recruit SME facilitators.
  • Ensure SME facilitator training is complete prior to eWorkshop commencement and assess ability to undertake role.
  • Induct eWorkshop Facilitators.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and constructive feedback to SME facilitators ensuring consistent high-quality engagement and facilitation of the eworkhsop offerings.
  • Facilitate regular meeting and other communications through skype, email, etc.
  • Seek ongoing feedback from SME facilitators on course content for the continuous improvement and alignment of Livelihood’s eWorkshops to Project Models.
  • Facilitate the exposure and recognition of field-based SME’s efacilitators by creating linkages with Global Center and TSO to engage in PM feedback loops, furthering their professional development.
  • Undertake end of secondment reviews with each eFacilitator.

Coordinate the SME Facilitator Network:

  • Model best practice online facilitation creating a learning environment that is welcoming, conducive to active participation and group collaboration.
  • Post regular announcements to guide learning.
  • Providing one on one support to participants including, responding to participants comments and questions posted online, or via email or skype.
  • Administer, coordinate and moderate any synchronous learning events using WebEx.
  • Monitor participants task submissions and other assessments.
  • Maintain records on participants progress/grades.
  • Follow up with non-active participants and their managers as needed.
  • Undertake administrative requirements including: completing daily grading book, updating the course pages.
  • Evaluation co-facilitation and user experience.

Produce Course Evaluation Reports:

  • Monitor online learning offerings for quality and Project Model alignment, seek timely input from Project Model Lead, Subject Mater Experts.
  • Consolidate and share learnings from TA offerings to feedback back into Project Model Improvement processes / feedback loops.
  • Contribute to and or lead the review and development of competency aligned Project Model Learning Pathways components including self-paced orientations, micro learning and asynchronous eWorkshops to best suit learners needs.
  • Identify and work with Subject Matter Experts throughout the design process.
  • Use an agile approach to workshop design and adhere to design timeframes.
  • Design and build offerings to guarantee a consistent user experience across TA offerings.
  • Design offerings for ESL (English as a second language) and low-bandwidth accessibility.
  • Design offerings within budgetary constraints.
  • Work alongside the Online Training Administrator to develop course communications, application forms, evaluation forms etc.
  • Document eFacilitator eWorkshop notes.
  • Seek sign off on online offerings with relevant stakeholders.

Continue to evolve the TA design approach in collaboration with the broader TA Design team:

  • Commitment to ongoing relationships development and strong communications across diverse, distant team.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the TA Handbook, planning and budgeting processes.
  • Participate in TA team meetings, one on meetings, and represent TA in relevant sectorial meetings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Online learning and learning design, with recognized expertise in training, facilitation and capacity building (both online and offline).
  • Demonstrated experience in an NGO (or similar) context in working with community/grassroot people and organizations in local economic development.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Full ability to communicate cross-culturally and be cross-culturally sensitive.
  • High degree of proficiency in using email, MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Professional, Moodle.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Adult Education, Capacity Building, International Development or the equivalent preferred.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Fluency in French or Spanish.
  • Experience designing and developing learning courses, using a Learning Management System (e.g. Moodle) Positive, can-do attitude with strong inclination towards serving others and teamwork.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication skills including writing skills.
  • Facilitation experience in person and online.
  • Preferably involvement in relief/development work.
  • Articulate and video production competence will be looked upon favourably.
