This a strategic position in the finance department that report to Country Finance Manager. The Finance Analyst will provide strategic analysis of financial and business data to guide the leadership in strategic and management decision making. The incumbent will support the organisation in achieving greater efficiencies through deeper analysis and understanding of organisational cost trend and projections, cost structure, cost ratios, cost recovery and spending rates/ patterns across the organisations. S/he will through analysis help leadership understand the ongoing viability of the organization set at the Country and program area levels. This a critical position that will also deputize for and support Country Finance Manager in general financial analysis and planning as well ensuring timely financial reporting that is tailored to meet management needs for improved decision making.

 Duties and responsibilities:

Dimensions of the Role:

  • Complement the Country Finance Manager in supervising finance staff responsible for financial reporting. It will also closely interact with Country leaders Teams on matters pertaining to financial and business analysis at various levels in organisation.
  • Support the implementation of country, global and regional financial strategies and to provide timely and reliable financial information and analysis that leads to effective decision making at country level.
  • Contribute to country strategic objectives by ensuring effective business critical support information is in place and contributing to maximising the availability of resources for programs by cost effective financial processes and other operating activities by timely and accurate management reporting.
  • Provide support to Country Finance Manager, Grants and Program teams in improving the overall analytics, business insight, transparency and accountability.

RESPONSIBILITY:

  1. Financial & business analysis and reporting
  • Interact with Plan International accounting system, extract data per office and prepare financial analysis reports tailored for different clients in the country.
  • Present financial data in a manner that helps management keep track of the CO financial status
  • Funding analysis include forecasting scenarios
  • Design and maintain a dashboard of key CO financial indicators
  • Highlight key trends in CO financial data, provide comments on gaps and areas requiring improvement
  • Support management with timely and reliable financial and business information for decision making
  • Support the Country Finance Manager in preparation of monthly financial report for presentation to the Country Leadership Team (CLT) with clear highlights of areas of concern affecting business
  • Support effectiveness and efficiency by ensuring sound business analyses and provision of key management information.
  1. Financial business planning process for the country
  • Facilitate and coordinate financial business planning processes for the country
  • Support the consolidation and review planning inputs for the country
  • Support in the communicating instructions and milestones within the country for business planning, including long term planning, budgeting, quarterly forecasting and cashflow forecasting.
  • Support the Country Finance Manager in monitoring key monthly, quarterly and annual financial performance measures of the Country Office, and the PAs providing timely advice on corrective measures and opportunities.
  1. Financial and business controls, procedures and systems for the country
  • Through analysis identify financial risks and report these to the management for inclusion in the Country Risk register
  • Recommend and support the implementation mitigating actions to address key financial risks.
  1. Champion of strategic finance Innovations in the Country
  • The finance analysts is expecting to examine the practice, procedures and process and recommend better ways of doing things.
  • Document and share learnings in financial management
  • Cost and benefit analysis, payroll and cost recovery analysis
  1. Support the Country Finance Manager on any other tasks assigned e.g. audit support, review of payments, tax compliance-remittance and consultations.

Emergency Response SUPPORT

  • Work with and support the DRM, the emergency and MERL teams and ensure a high and effective gender and inclusion mainstreaming in emergency response, particularly projects design and delivery.
  • Ensure that all emergency response has a Rapid Gender Analysis done at all relevant times, especially at inception stage.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Knowledge / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and accounting
  • Professional financial/ accounting qualification e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CMA, CPA or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in accounting and finance and 2 years’ experience in analysis
  • Knowledge of financial management issues
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, Control Standards and Risk management techniques.

  • Strong team building skills, motivated & with good attitudes towards work
  • Strong negotiating, facilitating and influencing skills
  • Excellent proven financial analytical skills
  • Good written and spoken English good presentation and communication skills in delivering financial management information
  • Proficient in computer skills and use of Microsoft based packages. Experience of using general ledger packages and other databases is an advantage. (SAP and various bespoke systems)
  • Highly advanced Excel skills (automation and design) are essential

Travel

  • Travel is estimated at 25%.
