ABOUT FPDO:

Friends of Peace and Development Organization (FPDO) is a Sudanese voluntary, non-profit organization working towards prevalence of peace and development among the communities targeted in states where various projects implemented. The main activities are under the following sectors Peace, Food Security and Livelihood, Health, Mine Action, WASH, Protection, Nutrition, and Education projects.

Job Summary:

The Finance Officer will use their experience and detailed knowledge of non-profit practices and regulations to support FPDO and sub-grantee projects, ensure smooth reporting and accounting procedures across internal and external teams, and improve program procedures for tracking grants and for working with our partners from program design to closeout. The Finance Officer will research financial and legal compliance processes for program and assist the programs team in addressing outstanding compliance questions. This position is based in Khartoum and reports to the Operation Manager who reports to the Executive Director.

 Duties and responsibilities:
  • Review and process expense reports, financial reports, and payment requests prepared by program team members for compliance with FPDO and donor requirements;
  • Reconciling daily, monthly and yearly transactions
  • Preparing balance sheets
  • Review of approvals, receipts, contracts, availability of fund and supporting documentation of expenditure.
  • To ensure procurement procedure were applied.
  • In consultation with finance office and social insurance department, to settle indemnities of the staff.
  • Being a key point of contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters
  • Supporting the Operation Manager and executives with projects and tasks when required
  • Help programs staff formulate responses to donor regarding grants, contracts, agreements, and other compliance requirements;
  • Review grants and sub-grants to ensure that they are expended in compliance with donor requirements;
  • Maintain and update budget trackers and provide budget analysis to Operation Manager for program expenditures monthly;
  • Assist on contracts, letters of agreement, and other contractual documents for partners and vendors from financial wise;
  • Assist with review grant documents and modifications for programs under Finance wise;
  • Provide standard and ad hoc reports in user friendly formats to authorized personnel as needed;
  • Monitor applicable government regulations for changes and updates to grants, contracts and agreements;
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration or any relevant field;
  • Training in accounting (formal certification/degree required for Senior level).

Experience:

  • Minimum five years of grants management, finance, accounting, or related experience;
  • Minimum three years of experience working with non-profit program management, budgeting and accounting;
  • Knowledge of grants administration, and ability to interpret grants-related governmental documents and accurately respond to them;
  • Prior experience working on program support for civil society organizations is desirable.

Other requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work outputs, including written communication;
  • Advanced Excel skills (finalists will be asked to take an Excel test);
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Ability to independently track and manage multiple tasks and complete them quickly.
