Forcier is recruiting a Food Security/Nutrition Specialist to support an evaluation in Sudan.

Under the supervision of the Lead Evaluator, the Food Security/Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for providing in-depth contextual understanding, as well as technical and practical expertise to deliver the food security and nutrition aspects of the project. In particular, the evaluation will focus on the measurement of household health and nutritional status of beneficiaries in Darfur, including children under five and lactating women.

The Food Security/Nutrition Specialist is expected to:

  • Provide technical advice on the evaluation design, tools, methodology and implementation.
  • Advise on best practices and innovative approaches to measuring designated food security and nutrition indicators.
  • Participate in training of data collectors and oversee data collection as necessary to ensure quality.
  • Contribute to the data analysis and report writing process, alongside the Lead Evaluator.

Requirements

This position is open to all candidates. Preference will be given to Sudanese nationals. Female applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Food Security/Nutrition Specialist must have the following:

  • Strong knowledge and skills of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and sampling strategies and practical experience of managing wide scale surveys with multiple indicators.
  • Working experience (in a leading position) of at least 5 years of designing, implementing and guiding Interim, baseline and evaluation surveys of food security, health, nutrition and income saving.
  • Excellent communication and written skills in English (required) and Arabic (an advantage).
  • Capacity-building and training experience
  • Previous successful project evaluation experience in Sudan context for international organizations.

The following requirements would be considered desirable:

  • Knowledge of local languages.
  • Experience in mixed-methods evaluation design, methods, management, for USAID programs.
