Field of activity

As a transit, destination and country of origin for refugees and migrants, Sudan has received increasing attention from the international community in recent years. After the population of Sudan was able to overthrow Omar Al-Bashir's 30-year military dictatorship in April 2019 through months of peaceful protests, a transitional civil-military government was established in September 2019. 

It is intended to pave the way for the first free and democratic elections and initiate economic, political and social reforms. Heiko Maas was the first European foreign minister to visit Sudan in September 2019 and agreed to support the German government. 

On behalf of the Federal Government and the European Union, GIZ supports the people of Sudan in improving their living conditions. We make a contribution to ensuring that development in Sudan is inclusive and sustainable.

 

Your tasks

During the internship, you will gain insight into the work of the country office and all of GIZ's work in Sudan. 

Your tasks include support in the following fields of activity: 
• Participation in the implementation of the administrative and financial processes and structures of the state office 
• Preparation and visualization of administrative processes 
• Support in the development of coordination mechanisms between the various departments in the state office and including the introduction of ICT-based coordination 
mechanisms • Support in contract and financial management 
• Preparation of training materials 
• Preparation of the country office for internal auditing and control. 
• Participation and support in meetings and meetings 
• Familiarization with the administrative and organizational regulations of a work process based on the division of labor 
• Depending on competence and interest: Working on topics that are oriented to the specific tasks in the area of ​​administration and finance, as independently as possible with guidance and support

your profile

You have completed a bachelor's degree (business administration, economics, administration or similar) with reference to international cooperation. Work experience in an appropriate organization is an advantage. Your English and German language skills are fluent in speaking and writing, knowledge of Arabic is an advantage. Self-organization and initiative, as well as a structured approach to tasks and problems are among your strengths. You will also demonstrate teamwork and communication skills. Experience abroad is desirable.

Hints

The internship is only possible if you are currently enrolled, are undergoing further training, the integral part of which is completing an internship, or the degree was completed no longer than 6 months before the internship began. 

The monthly internship remuneration is € 1,608 (gross). Depending on the country of assignment, an additional monthly foreign allowance (gross), in an amount determined by GIZ, is added to the internship remuneration.
