Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Multimedia Reporter to join our Team in Khartoum,Sudan .MBN is a non-profit grantee of the federal government that directly communicates with the people of the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio, and digital media. MBN's mission is to provide objective, accurate, and relevant news and information to the people of the Middle East about the region, the world, and the United States in support of U.S. public diplomacy.The Multimedia Reporter is a high energy, creative journalist that Produce content for MBN’s television, digital, or radio platforms, as requested, including but not limited to television reports, on-line articles, digital stories, radio reports, photographs, features and live or taped interviews.The primary duties and responsibilities of the Multimedia Reporter include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce content for MBN’s television, digital, or radio platforms, as requested, including but not limited to television reports, on-line articles, digital stories, radio reports, photographs, features and live or taped interviews.
  • Develop original story ideas for features and special events consistent with the company’s mission.
  • Develop original, imaginative and creative ways to present news and feature stories.
  • Evaluate and analyze leads and tips to develop story ideas.
  • Leverage knowledge to propose relevant and significant stories to Assignment staff.
  • Write scripts, present voice-over and oversee production to ensure broadcast quality of stories and reports.
  • Check reports for balance, clarity, and objectivity to ensure they are free of bias and advocacy.
  • Ensure all work complies with MBN’s Journalistic Code of Ethics.
  • Coordinate news coverage with news management as directed.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Edit or assist in editing material for broadcast.
  • Work quickly and accurately.
  • Update previously reported stories as requested.
  • Report breaking news with accuracy and urgency.
  • Cultivate and maintain credible news sources with a wide variety of expertise and perspective.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of world events.
  • Conduct research.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and breaking news.
  • Ensure all work complies with MBN’s Journalistic Code of Ethics.
  • Stay in regular contact consistently with the Assignment desk

Candidates are required to have:

  • B.A., preferably in journalism or related field
  • 2 years of professional experience, preferably in a digital environment.
  • Expertise in shooting and editing compelling online video packages.
  • Strong news judgment, high energy, and self- motivation.
  • Fluency in Arabic and sound English communications skills.
  • Competency in modern journalism tools including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Middle East and international current events.
