 Duty Station: Khartoum, with possible duty trips to Gedarif State, Kassala State, Northern State and River Nile State.

 Background:

The objective of the Better Migration Management (BMM) program is to improve the human-rights based management of safe, orderly and regular migration and to support competent national authorities addressing the trafficking in human beings and the smuggling of migrants within and from the Horn of Africa region. The project is commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is co-funded by the European Union for the duration from October 2022 to September 2025. The project is implemented by a partnership of British Council, Civipol, IOM, UNODC, and the lead organization GIZ. The target countries in the Horn of Africa are Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda. The program in Sudan is seeking to fill the position of national Program Intern to assist the technical aspect of the programme with specific focus on the protection component (C3 (addressing access to information, access to protection services, and durable solutions. The candidate is expected to provide technical assistance while getting acquainted with the other BMM technical components and develop their capacities through the internship.

 Duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  1. Technical support to the protection component.
  2. Support in event management (technical, logistical)
  3. Support/accompanying the technical team in field missions. 

In this context, the national intern is expected to fulfil the following task:

Tasks:

  1. Technical support to the protection component 
  • Follow-up on process regarding the protection component (C3) as guided by the technical advisor and project manager.
  • Monitoring the implementation of service providers under contracts and report back to the relevant advisor.
  • Ensure proper filling of reports
  • Knowledge management using the GIZ/BMM's internal tools. You will ensure the dissemination and deposit of knowledge, experience and expertise (e.g. creation and translation documents).
  1. Support in event management (technical, logistical)
  • Support in the conceptual and organizational preparation, implementation and follow-up of events, workshops, trainings and conferences.
  • Liaise closely with admin/finance colleagues to ensure smooth management of the event.
  • Create an updated contact list for all stakeholders of the program.
  • Managing visibility and documentation aspects.
  • Prepare invitations.
  • Manage registration and participants list.
  1. Support/accompanying the technical team in field missions:
  • Technical and logistical preparation of the missions.
  • Coordination with colleagues in the field to organize for the event/visits.
  • Take notes and minutes of the visits and meetings.
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

You are a fresh graduate of law, political science, social science or development science or any related field.

- You are enthusiastic about the field of migration, protection and provision of services, gender (e.g. Health, Legal),

- You have strong Organizational skills.

- Ability to work in a team and enjoy working in a team.

- Ready to travel outside Khartoum.

- Initiative, flexibility, ability and willingness to work independently

- Business fluent in both Arabic and English.
