Job Summary:

As a member of the ‘Bina’ Aljusur (‘Building Bridges’)’ project team, you will support implementation of Natural Resource Management (NRM) activities in East Darfur and South Kordofan. The Project Engineer will provide technical support for all structural Agricultural and WASH engineering activities within the F2F project. S/he will be responsible for developing structural designs and Bills of Quantities for the existing and new Basic WASH and Agricultural infrastructure rehabilitation needs.

 Duties and responsibilities:
  • Organize and lead the implementation of project construction activities and all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Lead construction process for project activities, including: assessing infrastructure rehabilitation needs in selected project locations, developing BOQs for all rehabilitation/construction works, preparing and launching tender and bidding processes for construction contractor(s), and following up and supervising of the engineering works related to the project.
  • Coordinate and oversee working relationships with relevant stakeholders and serve as the liaison between vendors and the project to promote project activities and impact. Coordinate with relevant line ministries and local authorities, community representatives, and internal operations teams.
  • Initiate and complete proper CRS financial and procurement procedures to ensure punctual and efficient delivery of services and project implementation.
  • Supervise and perform ad-hoc inspections of various processes and resources at project sites to ensure timely project activities implementation and adherence to established process standards and procedures. Ensure proper tracking of resource use for project activities through periodic budget reviews and follow-up with and assistance to implementing partner.
  • Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in project support, ideally in Agricultural engineering preferably for an INGO.
  • Qualified structural or agricultural  Engineer with at least four years qualification experience
  • Previous experience of working in similar context with INGOs on Agricultural and WASH activities in humanitarian emergencies
  • Demonstrable experiences in managing Agricultural and WASH infrastructures
  • Experiences of working in a program of supporting Agricultural and WASH infrastructures in East Darfur or South Kordofan is an added advantage
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to sensitively and effectively manage disputes
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Required Languages - Fluency in written and spoken English required; Arabic native speakers, or strong skills are preferred

 

Travel- Position is based in CRS’ East Darfur office (Ed Dain). Must be willing and able to travel up to 80% to project areas within East Darfur.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
