Description

 Background:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organisation striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Quality Assurance Officer in Khartoum.

Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Logistician, the Quality Assurance Officer supports the implementation of defined medical quality assurance tasks, specific procedures or instructions related to medical warehouse activities, ensuring compliance with the good storage and distribution practices (GSDP) of the World Health Organization (WHO). S/he is also responsible for the quality control of incoming medical goods & is the official and legal representative towards the National Drug Authority in terms of Importation & Domestic Purchase

 Duties and responsibilities:
  • Closely supervises physical inspections of purchased and received medical items.
  • Supports warehouse staff in creating supplier complaints and follows them to completion.
  • Ensures compliance of warehouse with the WHO’s GSDP & QMS for the delegation as well as implementation of site SoPs.
  • Prepares periodic quality reports related to warehouse activities.
  • Ensures that outsourced activity schedules are respected
  • Supports the management of controlled drugs in the warehouse and the disposal of medical products.
  • Ensures the timely recording of specific information (e.g. temperature data, cold chain breakdown).
  • Ensures that the Log activities comply with national legal requirements
  • Supervises and provides technical support & training to the Medical Warehouse Storekeeper & staff
  • Identifies & assess potential domestic suppliers of pharmaceuticals or other health-care products
  • Acts as legal representative of the ICRC’s before the National Medicines & Poisons Board for Import/export of medical goods
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • University degree in pharmacy (mandatory), a specialization in quality management systems an asset.
  • Three years’ experience as a quality officer in a pharmaceutical distribution facility/company.
  • Experience as a quality controller in a pharmaceutical warehouse an asset.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office). Knowledge of enterprise resource planning software an asset.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Arabic
  • Proficiency in Continuous Improvement and Optimization, Document Management, Quality Management Systems and Capacity building
  • Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Teamwork & Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
