Description

The Organization: Search is an international conflict transformation NGO that aims to transform the way individuals, groups, governments and companies deal with conflict – away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative solutions. Since 2019, Search Sudan designs and implements multifaceted, culturally appropriate and conflict-sensitive programs using a diverse range of tools, including media and training, to promote dialogue, increase knowledge and determine a positive shift in behaviors. Search relies on the media sector in its all projects; this is because the Sudanese media sector has great potential to advance peace, security and state building in Sudan by providing reliable, balanced and timely information to the population, and by informing and educating the Sudanese population about the broader political process occurring in the country. Therefore, it is important to produce accurate, engaging and conflict-sensitive radio programming across Sudan tailored to local consumers. The Project:Search in partnership with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (CEPPS/IFES), the International Republican Institute (CEPPS/IRI), and the National Democratic Institute(CEPPS/NDI), with associate partners Internews (CEPPS/Internews) are implementing a projectthat supports the development of Sudan’s governance and electoral institutions; promotes inclusive participation of all voters in the elections; and the revival of political parties, civil society organizations, and media. This three-year program, supported by the USAID, targets theentirety of Sudan and has the overall goal to establish and strengthen democratic institutions,stakeholders, and processes that will administer transitional elections and lay the foundations for a more peaceful, inclusive, and democratic Sudan.The Assignment:Search Sudan is seeking an established radio station to broadcast thirty (30) pre-recorded radio program episodes created as part of its ongoing projects. The pre-recorded radio programming discusses topics such as peace, social cohesion and practices of harmonious communities in an apolitical, neutral manner. The selected radio station is expected to air two episodes (each approximately 20 minutes including its theme song) at prime listener hours selected in cooperation with Search. Asides from broadcasting, the station is expected promote the radio drama show through airing the relevant jingle for the show and the organization to encourage listeners to tune in and facilitate feedback sessions from listeners in gender and conflict-sensitive manner.

Deliverables

    • Broadcast a total of 30 episodes of radio programming shared by Search
    • Successfully broadcast radio programs at timeslot agreed on without any interruption or commercial breaks
    • Successfully facilitate feedback sessions after broadcasted episodes in a conflict-sensitive and respectful manner– throughout contract duration
    • Successfully advertise Search’s radio programming by airing the Search jingle to encourage listeners to tune in throughout the week
    • Successfully submit recordings of all sessions facilitated by the station to Search

      Requirments

        • Popular radio station among youth and women
        • Wide and dedicated listenership
        • Provide airtime priority to Search – to be determined in cooperation
        • Should be willing to broadcast Search’s radio programming despite external context
        • Active in radio broadcasting, journalism or radio production in Sudan for at least 3 years
        • Willingness to integrate Search’s radio programming into its advertisement schedule and marketing plans
        • Post recordings of Search’s programs and Q&A sessions on station’s social media platforms to reach a wider audience – if applicableTo apply, interested candidates are requested to submit the following two documents:1.
