Job Summary: 

You will provide technical advice and support to a range of program design and implementation issues in the area of Youth and Gender in line with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) program quality principles and standards, donor guidelines, and industry best practices to Country Program (CP) teams to advance the delivery of high-quality programming to the poor and vulnerable. You will provide technical leadership to the project team members to ensure gender equality and youth integration in the project. She/he will lead on gender analyses, developing gender action plans, youth mobilization strategy, support project staff to have tools and methods for ensuring gender equality and facilitate leading and adaptation on youth and women integration in activities.

 Duties and responsibilities:
  •  Support the development and contribute to the implementation of agency-wide strategies, standards, tools and best practices in Youth and Genderthat effectively engage partners, donors,and governments. Help ensure a cross-sectoral approach integrating gender, protection mainstreaming, and disaster risk reduction.
  • Ensure the inclusion of, and economic opportunity upgrading for, youth, women and other marginalized populations in the agricultural market system in East Darfur and South Kordofan.
  • Lead the development and execution of the women and youth engagement and social inclusion activity plan and learning agenda and update as necessary throughout the life of the project;
  • Identify gender and youth knowledge gaps and training needs and design training and capacity building opportunities to ensure these needs are met;
  • Collect and analyze program data, capture and share lessons learned and best practices for specific projects to facilitate improvements in decision-making and contribute to the Youth and Gender learning agenda. For example, oversee women and youth engagement and social inclusion analysis as well as women and youth activity assessments
  • Support capacity strengthening initiatives in Youth and Gender programming for staff and partner through helping develop learning and training strategies and agendas/curriculums, conducting trainings and workshops, and coaching.
  • Lead the regular sharing and learning of Gender Youth and Social Inclusion (GYSI) best practices with program staff and partners;
  • Contribute to maintaining relationships with donors, peer organizations, research and other institutions, participate in forums in the area of Youth and Gender to collect and share best practices and promote CRS’ work.
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in gender studies or related field
  • Minimum of three years relevant work experience with designing and implementing women’s and/or youth integration and empowerment systems, specific to the roles above. Experience with agriculture projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical principles and concepts on gender and youth, General knowledge of other related disciplines to ensure proper cross-sectoral approach.
  • Knowledge of capacity strengthening best practices.
  • Experienced with private sector approaches to women and youth integration, employment, entrepreneurship, and/or customer targeting in development programming.
  • Demonstrated experience adapting project implementation and activities to achieve objectives and targets as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across projects, be flexible, and creative and successfully lead an intercultural team in development and post-conflict contexts.
  • Proven leadership skills training and motivating diverse teams

 

Required Languages- List languages required to perform the job

 

Travel- Position is based in El Daein, East Darfur. Must be willing and able to travel up to 70% to project areas in East and  South Kordofan

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Strong relationship management skills with ability to influence and get buy-in from people not under direct supervision and to work with individuals in diverse geographical and cultural settings
  • Good strategic, analytical, problem-solving and systems thinking skills with capacity to see the big picture and ability to make sound judgment
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Presentation, facilitation, training, mentoring, and coaching skills
  • Proactive, resourceful and results-oriented

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems, knowledge-sharing networks.
