SUMMARY:
Our Client is a group of companies based in South Sudan looking to hire for positions in their subsidiary companies. The role will be based in South Sudan
JOB PURPOSE:
The incumbent reports to the CEO. The Successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the following key functions:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Functions:
- Formulate financial strategies and provide key input in the development and implementation of the company’s strategic business plans, annual work plans and budgets
- Ensure that appropriate controls and monitoring mechanisms are set in place and are enforceable at all times
- Review the capital structure of the company and recommend changes in line with Board resolutions
- Maintain a motivated team of employees with focus on continuous skills development, in liaison with the HR function
Financial Management
- Provide leadership in the company’s accounting and financial management strategy formulation process
- Provide key input in the preparation and implementation of the company’s investment plans and annual business plans to optimize the company’s financial performance
- Strengthen the company’s operations/business growth and overall profitability
- Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process for the company
- Manage effectively the company’s financial resources and ensure smooth running of all business operations
- Monitor and analyze the company’s financial performance against annual budgets
- Ensure that financial reports are prepared and presented in an accurate and timely manner and explain variances and pro-actively rectify and put in place remedial agreed plans
- Implement and maintain robust financial management and reporting systems and ensuring that all procedures are strictly adhered to in line with generally accepted accounting principles and guidelines;
- Plan and coordinate preparations for external statutory audits and lead in the preparation of draft company financial statements
- Manage external audits and ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards, statutory requirements and company policies; and
- Comply with all financial regulations in line with good governance principles
Tax Planning and Compliance Management
- Comply to all relevant tax laws and regulations
- Design and implement policies that result in reducing the tax burden for the company
Risk Management
- Manage the operating environment to minimize risk of potential loss of financial resources and reputation
- Work with the Executive Team on contingency planning, and put in place appropriate measures to mitigate foreseeable risks
- Understand enterprise risk management and in liaison with Head of Risk and Compliance put in place mitigating measures to reduce or eliminate financial, operational and strategic risks
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- First Degree from reputable university in Commerce, Accountancy, Economics or any relevant field
- Professional qualification and member of professional Accounting institutions
- Masters’ Degree in Business, Finance, Economics any other relevant field as an added advantage
- Excellent communication skills in English both oral and written
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter and must demonstrate interest and proven ability to solve problems without supervision;
- Experience in use of SAP, Oracle or similar Enterprise Resource Programs is of advantage
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a relevant job at the executive management level
