The Country Finance Department leads the financial management and accounting teams throughout Sudan.

This position seeks to provide timely and reliable financial information and analysis to the country finance office that aids in effective decision making.

 Duties and responsibilities:

Dimensions of the Role:

The post holder is based at Country Office and reports to Senior Accountant at the Country Office. This position supports both the Accountants and Senior Accountants at the country office.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Key End Results of Position:

  1. Accurately updated accounting records to aid the finance management team in decision making
  • Ensure all payments are done on a timely manner
  • Maintain proper filling system by organising and records in a proper sequence.
  • Process Tax Payments
  • Liaising with the bank and creditors on daily business transactions, and creating a smooth working business relationship
  1. Monitory of the CO Treasury accounts to provide for adequate funding for the business
  • Consolidate the fortnight cash forecast for program areas and ensure they are ready for CO cash disbursements
  1. Accurately analysed financial reports to the Finance CO users compliant to the established policies and procedures
  • Ensure submission of timely and reliable financial information (reconciliations, financial reports etc.)
  • Produce weekly GL reports and any other report requested.
  1. Support to CO team to comply with internal financial controls in place
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls processes, procedures and systems are in place and adhered to.
  • Liaising with External Auditors and follow-up finance-related audit actions.
  • Ensure prudent petty cash management and control

Emergency Response SUPPORT

  • Work with and support the DRM, the emergency and MERL teams and ensure a high and effective gender and inclusion mainstreaming in emergency response, particularly projects design and delivery.
  • Ensure that all emergency response has a Rapid Gender Analysis done at all relevant times, especially at inception stage.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Knowledge / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance and accounting or equivalent is required.
  • 2 years’ work experience in an accounting role
  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures


  • Proficient in computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, web-based system
  • Working knowledge of written and spoken English
