Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an international Italian NGO established in 1965. Since its establishment, COOPI has been undertaking activities to help and empower the poor and needy in different countries. COOPI Sudan started its operation in 2004 and has been primarily implementing emergency, relief and early recovery programs in water hygiene and sanitation, food security and livelihood, nutrition and protection sectors.

COOPI is currently implementing several projects in East Sudan (Kassala and Gedaref States) supporting Ethiopian refugees and host communities mainly in the WASH sector.

 

Under the framework of on-going projects, COOPI is looking for qualified and competent Assistant Administrator/Accountant.

 Duties and responsibilities:

The Assistant Administrator/Accountant support the Area Administrator in ensuring the correct accounting and administrative management of the projects implemented in the Area, in compliance with the contract and procedures of both COOPI and donors.

He/she will be responsible to:

Cash and Account

  • Under supervision of the Area Administrator, she/he manages and control of all liquidity movements (cash and bank) and the preparation of all related documents
  •  She/he records staff timesheets and prepares staff payroll
  • She/he ensure the correct accounting of the Organization

 

Budget preparation and economic-financial control of projects: 

  • She/he support the Area Administrator in supervising new project budgets in accordance with the planning and sustainability of country coordination and Milan headquarters;

 

Planning and monitoring expenses:

  • In collaboration with the project leader and the logistician carries out the financial planning of the project and monitors expenses within the budget.
  • She/he support the Area Administrator in identifying the economic and financial commitments necessary for the implementation of project activities using the appropriate instruments.

 

Contract Changes and Administrative Documentation:

  • Collaborate with the project leader in the preparation of contract changes (including budget) and in the preparation of all the necessary administrative documents

 

Budget preparation: 

  • She/he support the Area Administrator in supervising new project budgets in accordance with the planning and sustainability of country coordination and Milan headquarters;
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • University Degree in Business Administration, Economics or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of working experience in a similar position in the Private or Governmental sectors or with a reputable International NGO
  • Excellent knowledge of Computer applications in Excel, Word and any relevant system to finance and accountability
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and Arabic
  • Precise, focused, objective centered, reliable, able to accomplish duties in a proper and timely manner
