The GIZ Office in Khartoum is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position:

 Duties and responsibilities:
  1. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for:

  • Supporting the project in its strategic communication with stakeholder, partners and target groups;
  • Supporting the project manager and thetechnical advisors in managing internal communication channels;
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of the GIZ Sudan communication strategy within the project scope and mandate;
  • Ensuring the alignment of the project’s communication measures with corporate and donor visibility guidelines.

 

  1. Tasks

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

  • Support the senior information management expert in all tasks related to corporate communication and design standards, press relations, communication concepts and ensure that these are implemented
  • Together with the senior information management expert advising the project manager in terms of communication and supportin the development, updating and implementation of their communication strategies
  • Supporting the establishment and management of relations with national media;
  • Screening, summarizing and evaluating Sudanese social media channels with regards to the project’s scope and mandate and advise on handling social media
  • Drafting, editing and translating texts and publications; maintaining a facebook group, linkedIn group, and other relevant social media groups
  • Monitoring of media reports on GIZ in national and international media and in GIZ media channels including monthly compilation of GIZ Sudan’s press review;
  • Liaising with external service providers (printing companies, graphic designers, photographers etc.) and managing contracts with suppliers and contractors;
  • Continous development of the capacities of the project’s staff on communication
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • University degree (at least Bachelor or equivalent) in communications, marketing, political studies, economics, law or another relevant field, OR secondary school diploma combined with relevant work experience;
  • Skills in photography, video editing, graphic design, or image/photo editing and/or the use of relevant programs;
  • Proficiency in using social media tools;
  • Excellent English and Arabic writing and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong team work and intercultural competence;
  • Experience in communication in international contexts, such as delegations, visitors and with journalists and bloggers;
  • Proficiency in the use Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); additional IT knowledge would be an asset;
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and process large amounts of information in a short period of time;
  • Flexibility, high self-initiative and creative thinking in developing customer-oriented procedures and instruments;
  • Ability to work efficiently with tight deadlines and competingpriorities
