 Background:

The Transition to New Sudan program is working with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to provide support on achieving the Ministry’s eight strategic objectives for years 2021-2025. To support these efforts, Chemonics is recruiting for a short-term project management consultant. The scope of work of the Project Management Consultant includes, but is not limited to, implementing a high-level project management methodology based on project management interface (PMI) best practices. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all MoJ projects, providing periodic reports to executive leadership on the progress made on each project, and suggesting risk mitigation strategies, when needed.

 

 Duties and responsibilities:

As a role that focuses on completing a project as efficiently and promptly as possible, a Project Management Consultant should carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Leading project planning sessions, managing project progress and adapting work as required, and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Coordinating staff and internal resources, managing large and diverse teams, and managing relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Overseeing all incoming and outgoing project documentation, designing and signing off on contracts, and participating in tender process i.e. design, submission and review
  • Conducting project reviews and creating detailed reports for executive staff, designing risk mitigation plan(s), and optimizing and improving processes and the overall approach where necessary
  • Securing growth opportunities and initiating new projects

 

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • Certified project management professional (PMP)
  • Has five or more years of experience
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Engineering, IT or Computer Science, Business or Business Administration, Management
  • Computer skills: Highly skilled in using Microsoft office applications, Proven skill in using project management software (MS Project, Primavera, Prince2, etc.)
  • Written and verbal communication skills, capacity to manage high stress situations, ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously
  • Leadership skills, big-picture thinking and vision, attention to detail, conflict resolution skills
