 Background:

The position holder will provide overall coordination and leadership on gender and protection mainstreaming in setting and communicating overall direction and actions across CARE Sudan program. Mainly, the post holder is expected to ensure appropriate capacity and interventions are included among the key sectors such as WASH, Health, Nutrition, governance and economic empowerment programs.

The range of duties for the post holder could include playing a lead role in defining the inclusion of CARE’s programs principles, objectives and operational strategies to contribute to gender transformation and gender equality; setting standards for project, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. The coordinator will play key roles in capacity development strategies among CARE staff, local NGO and government implementing and strategic partners.

S/he is required to provide close follow-up and support to the program and support staff with more than 50% field travel to implement gender strategies.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

 

· Advanced degree Gender Studies, Protection, Social Sciences or Bachelor degree or related

· Minimum 5 years’ technical experience in either Protection or Gender

· 5 years of proven leadership and management skills with ability to motivate personnel and be sensitive

· Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.

· Highly organized, close attention to detail, and ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a fluid environment

· Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English (written, spoken)

· Computer skills and practice with Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. required

· Team-working skills; ability to communicate effectively in internal and external settings and provide leadership in team efforts

· Demonstrable ability to work, communicate and build effective relations remotely

· Be able to communicate effectively across CARE Sudan’s management structures.

· Ability to work with people of various cultures

· Sound conceptual skills in humanitarian emergency, early recovery and development programming and designing interventions in such context

· Strong in networking, representation and building relations

· Managing relations by being sensitive to cultural differences and responding appropriately to different situations.

· Self-motivated and motivating others
