Accountability to affected people and diversity inclusion (AAP) is at the core of ICRC’s strategy. ICRC aims to work in its humanitarian response: a strong ethical foundation with the objective to ensure the quality and accountability of our programs; a set of guiding principles that enhance our ability to achieve program results and; support functions and systems that enable staff to put these principles in action.

 

 Duties and responsibilities:
  • Seek support from in house specialists to address issues that require in depth support, in particular in relation to gender, age, and disability inclusion; understanding local preferences in relation to communication, managing risk of sexual exploitation and abuse and, community-based protection.
  • Actively participate in peer learning at local, regional and global levels to share and document experiences, challenges and questions working on AAP.
  • Contribute to capacity development by collecting and sharing examples and case studies; reviewing global training modules on AAP and adapting them to the context; delivering training at delegation level.
  • Include a Movement dimension within capacity development, learning from, coordinating with (on AAP activities) and sharing expertise with National Societies and the IFRC in country.
  • Discuss and identify the delegation obstacles to improve the best practice on AAP.
  • Contribute to strategy and policy development, institutional analyses, research, and speaking points on AAP.
  • Support the region to develop / implement relevant parts of the Regional Strategic Framework;
  • Represent ICRC at relevant expert meetings.

 

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • University degree
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in a humanitarian field.
  • Fluent command of English and Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Excellent public speaker, very good presentation skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
