Description

The objective of the Better Migration Management Programme II (BMM II) is for national authorities and institutions to be able to facilitate safe, orderly and regular migration and effectively address and reduce the trafficking in human beings and the smuggling of migrants within and from the Horn of Africa region through a human rights-based approach. BMM Programme is looking at achieving three special objectives, which are: strengthening national and regional migration governance, strengthening national and cross-border cooperation on trafficking and smuggling cases and improving protection of victims of trafficking and vulnerable migrants at local, national and regional level.

Your tasks

  • Provide technical backstopping to GIZ BMM Sudan team on protection issues and related services and implement the key GIZ activities and initiatives related to assistance and protection to vulnerable migrants in general and victims of trafficking
  • Provide technical support and follow up for activities related to shelters
  • Support the transfer of knowledge and knowledge management on protection issues within BMM
  • Prepare meetings, workshops, facilitation of missions, contracting of short-term-experts
  • Coordination of inputs for internal reporting
  • Coordination of BMM in Sudan and regular contact and dialogue with partner institutions

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Development or Social Sciences or equivalent in law, human rights or another relevant field of study
  • Knowledge of German development cooperation as well as GIZ procedures
  • Several years of professional experience in sheltering services and technical advisory role
  • Experience in the Horn of Africa region
  • Demonstrated experience in timely delivering of quality products and in contributing to complex processes within the women’s protection area of work
  • Proven experience in the areas of refugee work, protection of migrants and vulnerable people such as victims of trafficking
  • Strong analytical, dialogue, consultation and communication skills and very good working knowledge of IT technologies and computer applications e.g. MS Office
  • Fluency in English, Knowledge of German is a plus

Location information

There are Sudanese as well as international restaurants and cafes and diverse leisure opportunities. The climate is very hot in summer (up to 40 degrees Celsius), but dry. The security situation is tense. Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. The freedom of movement is restricted. GIZ does not impose any restrictions on life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment.
