Description
Chemonics seeks a chief of party for an anticipated five-year USAID/South Sudan education project. Activities could include establishing and expanding youth-focused accelerated learning programs and education centers; training teachers; developing teaching and learning materials; planning for emergencies; and conducting community outreach. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate with USAID and other key stakeholders in South Sudan, including government officials
- Provide technical leadership and administrative oversight
- Manage staff and subcontractors and ensure activity meets stated performance standards, results, and reporting requirements
- Ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of all products and activities
- Ensure compliance with award terms and conditions and USAID policies and regulations
- Identify issues and risks related to implementation in a timely manner and making appropriate program adjustments to meet contractual objectives and results
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree (or equivalent) in international development, public administration, or an education-related field from an accredited university
- At least seven years in a management or leadership position on an international development project, with at least one year as a USAID chief of party
- Strong management skills, leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, cross-cultural skills, and written and oral presentation skills
- In-depth knowledge of the education sector, especially in complex, crisis, or fragile environments
- Experience working on USAID or other donor-funded projects, especially in complex, crisis, or fragile environments
- At least three years of experience working in sub-Saharan Africa
- At least two (2) years of experience managing formal and/or non-formal education programs
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluent in written and spoken English
