Description

The Information Management Officer (IMO) works directly with the CP team in Khartoum and the Case Management teams and IM Assistants in all relevant field locations, to lead on the on the establishment of an Information Management System (IMS), including the development of quality tools for the Case Management program in Sudan.

The role of the Khartoum based, roving IMO is to manage program needs for information, gather and analyse assessment and response data, and support the work of the CM team; for example, updated information on recent findings from field based CM teams. The IMO is also expected to work closely and interface with SCI technical team in the Regional Office (RO) and other agencies and will lead on the implementation of the upcoming inter-agency CPIMS+.

The IMO has the overall responsibility for the daily data management for efficient and timely submission of accurate reports on the Unaccompanied and Separated Children as well as all the other cases of Child Protection concerns that are documented and entered into the individual children’s case files and exported into the SCI’s internal database, and later exported to the inter-agency CPIMS+. His/her main role is to do the analysis of FTR data and provide information to the Case Management programs in Sudan with data that will enhance and holistic protection response to vulnerable children in Sudan with humanitarian needs, including Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC). S/he will lead the updating of the CP IMS, confirm quality and completeness of data. S/he produces and submit internal reports regularly (e.g. weekly. Fortnightly, monthly and quarterly) to the Head of CP and the CP Manager, MEAL tam and other relevant departments.

The IMO will in particular be responsible for support field-based CP teams and promote the use of standard forms for case management, and in coordination with the Head of CP make sure that standard forms are adapted as necessary for local context. The IMO will prepare for the implementation of adequate information management systems; develop a paper based and/or Excel system that will be used, until the technical and financial capacity is developed to implement the CPIMS+.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, psychology or another relevant field, or equivalent experience from working directly with children.
  • Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply for the positions. Female candidates who may not meet the formal education requirements, but showing a good understanding of gender dynamics, including gender-based violence may be considered for the role.
  • Experience and/or excellent understanding of child rights, child protection in emergencies, child and youth development, child and youth resilience and empowerment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and capacity to maintain relations with government officials, community leaders, children and youth.
  • At least two years of experience in managing projects, including supervision of staff.
  • Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Office and excel.
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches and child safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours and spend time in the field, sometimes in difficult conditions and with limited resources, and with remote management.
  • The successful candidates must know and understand the local context including child development in the context; relationship dynamics within the community; and cultural practices impacting on child welfare.
  • The ability to manage complex and diverse workload and to work with tight deadlines
  • Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.
  • Good understanding of English and Arabic
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, or if high-risk cases needs urgent actions, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Contract duration: 1 year
