 Duties and responsibilities:

ROLE PURPOSE:

The CSG Manager will work under direct supervision of the Director Risk, Compliance &Government Relations (DRC&GR) provide support to the country Child Safeguarding processes within the candidate and employee lifecycle. The post holder will be expected to provide significant mentoring and capacity-building to SC staff, volunteers, suppliers, consultants, associates and partners. The role holder will work in conjunction with the Country Senior Leadership Team and Child safeguarding focal persons located across the Sudan country office.

Under the direct supervision of the Director Risk, Compliance & Government Relations, the Child Safeguarding Manger will provide direct support to programme operations team to ensure safer programming, HR teams and line managers to ensure safer recruitment process. S/He will oversee the child safeguarding policy and quality standards implementation, as well as advise on maintaining safe and secure operation environment in Sudan.

S/he will ensure compliance with Save the Children’s global standards and best practices for safeguarding children. This will include:

  • Establishing and updating policy, local procure and associated policy guideline on preventing harm to children
  • Putting the policy into practice using standard implementation guidelines
  • Communicating “keeping children safe” messages on regular bases.
  • Ensuring staff, partners, beneficiaries & representatives access to advice and support.

 

Child Safeguarding:

Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • University degree in child protection, governance, law, social work or other relevant field
  • Training in Gender, child protection and other relevant areas
  • Strong experience in influencing and creating change around gender sensitive / transformative programming at field and global level in humanitarian settings
  • Experience conducting humanitarian assessments, including gender analysis through the use of participatory methodologies and revising monitoring and evaluation tools to capture gender equality considerations for different sectors
  • Expert knowledge of broad range of gender equality programmatic interventions
  • Experience/good knowledge in child protection and/child safeguarding practice in humanitarian setting
  • Ability to travel frequently with short notice and work within challenging environments
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold strict confidentiality and working with professionalism
  • Effective communication skills, written, verbal and the ability to present arguments clearly and effectively to a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • Ability to build effective relationships with and influence people from diverse backgrounds and different levels of seniority
  • Demonstrated commitment to children’s rights and safeguarding
