Introduction to the Country Office: Norwegian church Aid is in Sudan since 1972 and works in the fields of relief, rehabilitation, and development.  The Country Office in Khartoumcurrently has two field offices in South and the Central Darfur States, and about re-open a field office in South Kordofan State. NCA works through national partners in North, West, South Kordofan, White Nile States, and South and the Central Darfur States.

Information about the position:

the civil Society StrengtheningCoordinatorwill contribute to the design, development, implementation and monitoring of NCA’s cross-cutting civil societyprojects in South, West and North Kordofan and White Nile States.

 

Information about the contract:

This is a one-year contract with a three-month probation period and possible renewal for another year.

 Duties and responsibilities:
  • Support local actors and national NGOs to increase their participation in humanitarian response and in general civil society decision making.
  • Facilitate the mobilization of rights-holders for collective action on common interests i.e. primary health and hygiene, GBV, WASH, economic, women’s and youth empowerment and other key societal issues.
  • Facilitate and collaborate on the building of multi-actor platforms to work together for and towards sustainable social change.
  • Provide coordination and support to programme team members & relevant partner staff in the definition of appropriate program strategies and approaches for civil society strengthening.
  • Coordinate and/or support contextual analysis with a specific focus on gender equality, age, and civil society, including a mapping of women, youth, and other marginalised groups and networks.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with CSOs, partner organizations, local NGOs, and CBOs etc.
  • Provide technical support for the project including design, planning, coordination and monitoring/evaluation of all project activities in close coordination with other project coordinators and in cooperation with other partner staff.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework for the project in coordination with the Programme Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) Manager and partner organisations.
  • Work closely with technical focal points to ensure support, capacity building, and training development for partner staff on civil society amongst other areas.
  • Supervise project field staff that are responsible for the capacity building of partners and field monitoring of the project implementation.
  • Provide coordination and administrative support in developing and carrying out partner staff training and development.
  • Draft and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual reports for both internal and external purposes.
  • Ensure timely submission of work plans and budget forecasts and review and input into partners’ narrative and financial reports.
  • Maintain compliance with NCA’s standard policies and procedures (i.e. procurement, financial, security, etc.).
  • Ensure that all key donor compliance rules and regulations are adhered to for both NCA and implementing partners.
  • Document Civil Society Strengthening technical/program approaches, lessons learned, and success stories and ensure their dissemination amongst projects and programmes.
  • Commitment to NCA’s position on promoting gender equality in line with the Global Strategy and policy; and integrating this into all aspects of work.
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience working in a humanitarian or development programming
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in project coordination or management
  • Strong experience in Civil Society Strengthening programmes
  • Strong knowledge of civil society organizations role in gender equality, women’s empowerment and/or youth empowerment
  • Knowledge of capacity development approaches, especially for institutional strengthening of civil society
  • Experience in conducting/supporting assessments and context analyses

 

Educational background and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, international development, community development, Social Science, or gender studies,
  • Master's degree in above fields is an asset
  • Fluency in Arabic and English language.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of gender and conflict analysis

We offer:

  • A monthly “Gross Salary” of USD (1,578.50).
  • The contract of employment is bound by the minimum requirements of the Labor Act for the Year 1997 and the maximum of NCA National Staff Handbook.
