Description
Muslim Aid is a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters, conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy. It was established in the United Kingdom in 1985 in response to the drought in the Horn of Africa. Muslim Aid's Sudan Country office (MASCO) was set up in 1991 in response to the strategic need and to enable the continuation of effective aid work in the country. Currently, Muslim Aid is implementing projects in Kassala, Central Darfur and Red Sea State , Algazieera State , Gdarief State in Sudan.

Background:
Community Mobilization Officer (CMO) will be a highly motivated individual who will work with female-headed households and unemployed youth in the selected localities of Kassala and Gedaref states in East Sudan. Key functions of the CMO will be to improve community participation, involvement, and leadership. Support the communities in resolving their project related issues by liaising with the Implementing Partner, Ministry of Social Welfare (MoSW) and Vocation Training Schools (VTS) and flagging any project issues as and when they arise through guidance and facilitation.

Duties and responsibilities:
Community Mobilization and Capacity Building
- Closely coordinate partner project activities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in project delivery.
- Mobilise community members to ensure community participation and involvement in project activities.
- Ensure community participation includes the most vulnerable and marginalized groups (especially women, girls and people living with disabilities).
- Identify and build relationships with relevant partners as a resource to support project implementation.
- Supervise and facilitate any community-based trainings and activities implemented by Implementing Partner.
- Ensure community awareness about project priorities, strategies and approaches including project close out and handover dates.
- Provide program support to develop work plans and activity timelines.
- Serve as a focal person for effective communication between community groups, leaders and other project stakeholder.
- Support the target communities to strengthen/ build relationships with local markets structures, local authorities, and local leadership to ensure project sustainability and local needs and priorities are being met.
- Ensure the target community is linked with and utilising local technical assistance provided government extension departments.
- Work with local technical support such as Ministry of Social Welfare and Vocational Training Schools, Livelihoods Officer and the Livelihoods Project Manager to ensure correct advice and guidance is provided to enable communities to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Regular and consistent monitoring of project activities in close coordination with Implementing Partner
- Providing regular updates and submit monthly reports of project progress to Livelihoods Project Office and Project Manager, undertake regular community supervision and maintain effective community communication.
- Undertake monthly project feedback collection and documentation of impact and success stories, share and analyse community challenges and successes for lessons learned, best practices.
- Keep Livelihoods Manager informed on any issues related to logistics in field level.
