UPO is Sudanese national organization that has been established in 2009 and working since 2010. UPO seeks to build peace in Sudan through conflict mitigation and reconciliation, inspiring and furnishing the local communities with sufficient and life changing skills to capacitate and empower their living. We see a more peaceful and socio-economically and politically advanced Sudan.
Salary Range: $2, 500,$3,000 per month depending on your experience
Responsible for: The Institutional Fundraising Officer (x1), plus management of Consultants and volunteers as and when needed

Background:
Purpose of Role
This is a leadership role within the programmes team. The post holder is responsible for driving the institutional fundraising strategy to secure and manage significant income from a diverse range of donors, such as governments, international organizations, multi-donor funds, and large trusts and foundations that operate grants in a similar way to recognized institutions.
A confident networker, you will represent UPO at meetings, forums, and events, as well as support engagement with key funders, in order to initiate and strengthen our relationships.

Duties and responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Own and support the development of the implementation of the institutional fundraising strategy.
- Build strong, effective working relationships with institutional and private donors.
- Grant manage key institutional awards, in particular the ongoing grants including delivering all financial and technical reporting and close out processes.
- Line manage the fundraising assistant and support their professional development.
- A major focus of the role will be to work with the programmes team and country partners to develop high quality funding proposals and deliver on grant accountabilities.
Fundraising
- Grow and sustain institutional income in line with UPO organizational strategy.
- Plan and coordinate funding approaches, working closely with the programmes team, country partners, plus senior management and external consultants as required to develop high quality funding applications.
- This includes developing budgets, log frames and theory of change in accordance with funder guidelines.
- Research, identify and plan approaches to new institutional funding opportunities for UPO and our in-country partners.
- Work closely with the programmes team and other related functions to ensure understanding of any implications, risks and opportunities of institutional funding applications/awards.
- Remain abreast of institutional donor trends in line with global development goals and share knowledge as appropriate across the organisation.
- Represent UPO at networks and forums relevant to institutional funding and funders.
- Identity other areas of fundraising (ie. trusts & foundations, major donors, partners) asrequired in the development of effective fundraising proposals.
Grant Management
- Work with the Program Director to develop and ensure monitoring and evaluation systems and procedures for awarded grants.
- Ensure reporting requirements for all institutional donors are met and reports are completed to deadlines.
- Lead on institutional donor grant agreement/contract negotiations and compliance.
- Ensure all relevant team members are fully briefed on the terms and conditions of donor grant agreements/contracts, including key deadlines.
- Manage due diligence processes, facilitate donor audits and coordinate with the Head of Programmes on external evaluations.
- Manage a system for maintaining all contacts, information and deadlines for each grant award and new fundraising opportunity.
General Management
- Lead on the development of annual income and expenditure budgets/forecasting for institutional fundraising.
- Support, coach and manage the Institutional Fundraising assistant Produce internal reports (monthly) and conduct reviews (quarterly) on the performance and progress of institutional fundraising against agreed financial targets, operational
- activities and annual objectives.
- Ensure collaboration and open relationships with institutional donors, the rest of UPO team, and country partners.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Technical skills,knowledge and Experience
Person Specification - Institutional Fundraising Manager
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of securing and/or managing grants from institutional donors – UN, EU, USAID, UKAID etc Experience working in an international development organisation.
- Experience of working in a client relationship management and/or project/programme delivery capacity. have written proposals/concept notes and been approved
- Experience of managing oneself and others to deliver financial targets, operational activities and objectives
- Strong IT skills including knowledge of excel and databases. research skills
- Fluent in English (verbal and written)
Desirable
- Highly desirable to have experience managing and/or securing funds from ,UN, Common Funds, UKAID
- Experience of working with EU, USAID and international
- Organizations in either a programmes and/or funding capacity
- Experience of managing relationships and activities remotely
- Experience of visiting/living and/or working in developing/fragile states .
- Have experience in establishing partnership with NGOs and embassies
