Field of activity
The aim of the Federal Republic's new project is to support the transitional government of Sudan in stabilizing the country in a transition phase up to the planned elections in 2022. A major challenge is to reliably provide basic government services to the population. The existing deficit in supply in the energy sector and in the administration weakens the trust of the population and thus the legitimacy of the transitional government. The expectation of the population that targeted measures by the transitional government will noticeably improve living conditions in the short term is very high. Therefore, on the one hand, emergency repairs are to be carried out at three selected power plants,
Your tasks
- Planning and control of the project for the implementation of tailor-made repair measures to increase the performance and network availability of three selected power plants in Sudan, which are to be repaired by international companies
- Planning, control and design of qualification measures for selected managers in various ministries, which are to be implemented by a non-governmental organization
- Coordination of the technical and organizational implementation of the planned measures with Section S03 of the Federal Foreign Office, the German Embassy and the Ministry of Energy and Economy of Sudan in the form of regular steering meetings
- Coordination with international service providers in the energy sector for the repair of power plants
- Ensuring media-effective public relations work in Sudan for the measures commissioned by the transitional government as well as reporting, internal and external communication
- Ensuring monitoring & evaluation as well as controlling the financial planning and use
- Quality assurance of the measure and preparation of semi-annual reports to the AA
- Planning and control of expert and short-term assignments
your profile
- Completed engineering studies in the energy and power plant sector
- Work experience in the implementation, conception and design of repair measures in the sector, especially in the context of development policy or through assignments for international companies
- Proven and verifiable experience in project management and in cooperation with international service providers in the energy and power plant sector
- Very good knowledge of consulting approaches and good knowledge of managing organizational consulting processes in a politically sensitive environment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to be politically sensitive
- Ideally, work experience and current knowledge of GIZ's instruments and procedures
- Structured, independent and result-oriented way of working, sensitivity to conflict and the ability to deal constructively with frustration and criticism
- Proficient in German and English; Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage
Location information

The climate in Khartoum is very hot but dry, in summer the temperatures rise to over 40 degrees. Sudan is an Islamic country.
