Description

The UNFPA Internship Programme offers students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNFPA operations. It is designed to complement primarily development-oriented studies or studies in related fields with practical experience

 

Applicants should have expressed interest in the field of development; ability to adapt to new environments and work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. Interns work under the supervision of a staff member at UNFPA. The background of the interns is matched with the needs of the organization.

 

 Duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will assist in:

  1. Research and Documentation:
  • Assist in the identification of relevant researches topics with programme units and communication officer. Identify the available evidences and their sources and the knowledge gaps.
  • In close collaboration with the programme units and the external relations analyst, assist in drafting of internal reports as well as donor reports.
  • Assist in providing relevant information and regular briefings on bilateral meetings and missions related to policies, strategies and partnerships.
  • Assist in maintaining systematic documentation of meeting minutes/ briefs and agreements with partners, guidance and advices by the Representative and Deputy Representative on strategic issues, field mission findings and priorities communicated by UNFPA counterparts.

 

  1. Data Management:
  • Assist in sorting out data related to UNFPA mandate and assist in categorizing this data in order to help in policy development and strategies.
  • Assist in collecting and preparing data and (background) information in the areas of UNFPA’s activities in the country; review and edit the information in the appropriate format.
  • Assist in maintaining systematic documentation easily accessible to programme staff of relevant researches, evidences and experiences whether it is local or international.
  • Provide administrative support to the Policy and Strategy Unit.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifying for an Internship:

 

The following qualifications are required for consideration:

  • Students should be enrolled in an advanced degree programme or have recently graduated
  • Students must have written and spoken proficiency in English and Arabic
  • Areas of study: Public Administration, Social Sciences or related field

 

Financial Aspects:

 

Interns are paid a monthly stipend and must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship. Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins.
