SAYARA’s Sudan Country Program operates from Khartoum, Sudan and is part of the East and Horn of Africa Regional Program. The regional team conducts projects in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and Sudan and delivers services to clients around the world, including the United Nations (UNDP, UNOPS, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UN Women), the European Union, governments (US, UK, France), universities, international NGOs, and other major donors. Headquartered in the Washington, DC region with local offices in Kenya, Sudan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Colombia, and France, SAYARA is responsive to client needs in complex environments through local expert knowledge and an ethical, evidence-based approach.

 Duties and responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance of the Sudan Country Director, The Logistics and procurement officer will beresponsible for operational support to programmes and project implementation for optimization of delivery.

 

The logistics and procurement officer will have the following responsibilities:

 

Assets Management & Procurement:

  • Ensure Sayara procurement policies alongside with the client policies and procedures are respected in the procurement of goods and services.
  • Oversees provision of procurement and all relevant transactional services in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Oversees effective delivery of all the procurement process within Sayara Sudan in compliance with HQ standards, formats and procedures.
  • Oversee regular monitoring of procurement processes to ensure that they are performed consistently and in accordance with the corporate standards.
  • Oversees country office compliance with corporate rules and regulations in the field and establishment and management of the procurement and contract management strategies.
  • Oversees management of Sayara assets in close cooperation with Programmes Support, facilities and logistical services.
  • Ensure control of inventory and carry out periodic inventory for materials and assets.
  • Other tasks as requested by CD or HQ that are in-line with the position.

Logistic Planning and Support:

  • Ensure efficient provision and effective delivery of client-orientated transactional services for procurement and administration to Sayara staff, project personnel and other external agencies.
  • Support mobilization of resources from different partners respectively.
  • Ensure efficient operations for Sayara Country office and other international agencies.

 

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree
  • Minimum two years’ relevant experience
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision and to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong commitment to high quality work and integrity in all interactions
  • Experience in managing multi-partner project budgets would be advantageous
  • Experience working with international organizations and donors
  • Accurate and strong attention to details
  • Excellent advisory skills with high work standard and ability to promote team synergy in a multi-cultural work environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, discretion and impartiality) are essential for this position;
  • Excellent Oral and written communications skills in English and Arabic
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of individual within a broad range of environments, especially in the east African context;
  • High level of good organizational and administrative skills with and ability to work well under pressure;
