Description

The Nutrition & Health Manager is responsible for overall management and implementation of Action Against Hunger and local partner nutrition activities in in AAH areas of intervention in Sudan. The person should ensure program consistency and good collaboration amongst the nutrition team and AAH and local partner teams for comprehensive care of the program beneficiaries; when required, implement/monitor the CMAM program in AAH intervention areas and build capacity of local partner teams. He/she will be responsible for the planning, the conception, the starting, the follow-up, the evaluation of the project and the hand over.

The candidate should have the following:

Experience on CMAM in emergency situation
Good capacity of analysis.
Competences in training
Good team spirit and ability to work in a team.

 

 Duties and responsibilities:

Objective 1:  Supervise CMAM activities in the framework of nutritional projects

Tasks: 

Define activity planning and implementing strategy in collaboration with the Health   and Nutrition Coordinator
Ensure initial and on-going training of the team in charge of the CMAM activities:

  • Supporting implementing partners to ensure follow up of SAM beneficiaries who have stagnant/declining weight during SAM treatment, SAM beneficiaries who are absent/defaulted from treatment, and discharged as cured beneficiaries
Collect and analyze the nutritional data, ensure the quality of the data collected. Readjust the program based on the results and the context.
Ensure daily follow-up of the nutrition centre activities and appropriate referral for complicated cases.

  • Supporting implementing partners  to ensure follow up of SAM cases upon referral SC-OTP and OTP-SC

 

Objective 2: Program Management and Reporting 

Tasks: 

Collect and analyze team reports from AAH and local IPs
Realize a monthly activity progress report - Ensure accurate and quality monthly reporting (APR narrative and APR quantitative report) and ensure programme reporting by local implementing partners
Participate to donor reports in collaboration with the Health and Nutrition coordinator by compiling and writing of nutrition narrative on progress while ensuring accurate data

 

Objective 3 : Representation & Coordination

Tasks:

Participate in internal and external meetings and working groups if requested
Participate to meetings with external humanitarian agencies if requested
Liaise with Donors and authorities and take contacts with the local health system in order to promote integration and further development of complementary activities.

 

Objective 4:   Develop and direct operations

The Nutrition and Health Programme Manager is responsible for:

  • Contribute to the development of the AAH Nutrition Sudan  strategy, and roll out strategy as required
  • Contributing to the preparation of new project proposals (text, budget, BoQ and HR needs) in collaboration with Nutrition Head, field and local IP teams
  • Presenting the nutrition programme to partners (the authorities, donors etc)
  • Timely and quality implementation of planned activities within his/her programme and alerting Head of Department to any delays or excessive or under-use of resources

 

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Training/ Education: Nurse/Nutritionist with experience in the management of nutrition programs in emergency situations.
Technical specific knowledge: Experience on CMAM in emergency situation mandatory.

Experience on IYCF is an asset.

Previous experience: At least 3 years of experience in the technical components mentioned above.
Humanitarian sector knowledge:

 

At least 3 years of experience within humanitarian organization
Personal requirements: Good capacity of analysis. Competences in training. Communications, observation, listening skills, motivation, and in management of teams and problems. Good team spirit and ability to work in a team. Autonomy, creativity, adaptability and flexibility.

Good knowledge of the area and local customs.

Languages: English and Arabic
IT and specific systems:

 

Windows domain and compulsory expertise in Excel.
Mobility (national/ international) National
