Description

The Project Coordinator will provide leadership to the overall project so that activities and outputs are implemented in a timely manner and also ensuring that the project stays on track with its outcomes and goal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project implementation:
  • Coordinate with program, finance and administration staff to ensure operational systems are in place to support field activities
  • Ensure that the project systems and staff are working to achieve the project goals and objectives and that the project is maintaining Search and donor accountability standards
  • Ensure clear understanding of project assumptions by all partners to aim at effective and timely achievement of project goals, outcomes and outputs
  • Ensure quality of implementation including appropriate structures, internal and external standards, staffing, resources and policies
  • Responsible for monitoring the impact of the project using Search tools, and use the information to support decision-making processes and promote learning by documenting best-practices
  • Responsible for analyzing and evaluating the impact of proposed changes regarding scope, report findings and solutions. Proactively manage changes to continuously improve service delivery, in accordance with timelines, budgets, etc.
  • Evaluate budgeted and actual expenditures with programs, finance and Country Director
  • Ensure that all partners involved in the project are appropriately included and informed of the project reviews and redesigns
  • Initiate and support liaison with other key stakeholders for the development of key project implementation documents (procurement plans, project agreements with the partners and project implementation plans)
  • Capacity Building:
  • Identify capacity needs and develop the capacity of partners to plan, monitor and coordinate service delivery and to promote the sustainability of their work
  • Train and mentor project staff on effective project planning and management methodologies
  • Establish and maintain excellent and supportive working relationships among staff, partners and other stake holders
  • Maximize team diversity and launch team-building activities to achieve organizational goals
  • Liaison and Networking:
  • Create an enabling environment for dialogue, information sharing, partnerships and cooperation when delivering project interventions
  • Represent Search in the local coordination forums and liaise with Government officials, donors and other partners wherever appropriate and required
  • Establish transparent relationships with all partners, including identification of their priorities and concerns and managing expectations
  • Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Ensure accurate quality narrative and financial reports are submitted in a timely manner and according to donor requirements; work closely with the Program Coordinator and DME in ensuring that all reports meet donor requirements
  • Track the performance of the project activities and outputs against expected results and adjust implementation processes to ensure the project is progressing towards the intended outcomes
  • Analyze the impact of projects and promote learning by documentation of best-practices. Use this information to support decision-making processes
  • Responsible for overall monitoring of activities, expenditure against approved budgets, anticipate any deviations and recommend and take action on relevant and required adjustments
  • Support DME team in carrying out the baseline study, semi / annual reviews, and evaluations during the lifespan of the project
  • Ensure compilation and evaluation of information to reach sound decisions and provide complete and accurate presentations or reports, particularly regarding sector-specific issues

Skills & Competencies

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • University degree in international development, conflict resolution, project management or related field
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of INGO experience in project implementation or management in Sudan
  • Demonstrated track record in project/program implementation, staff and grant management for major donors
  • Demonstrated experience in program or project design, monitoring, evaluation and report writing
  • Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills and detail-oriented
  • Strong and proven ability in report writing, in English
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Cultural sensitivity and strong interest in dialogue, peacebuilding and conflict transformation
  • Proficiency in local languages is an asset
