Background:

SOS Children's Villages Sudan is an international NGO affiliated with the Federation of SOS Children's Villages International and has been operational in Sudan since 1978. The programs of SOS CV Sudan are focused on addressing the needs of children, with particular emphasis on orphaned and abandoned children.

The organization is seeking a qualified Project Finance Manager  based in Khartoum - South Kordofan.

 Duties and responsibilities:
  • Lead, develop and coach the Project Finance Team to drive best practice, value-adding project controls and financial management processes between Finance and project delivery teams
  • This position will oversee the project level financial controls, and provide transactional support to the project teams.  The role will also act as the key subject matter expert from a project finance perspective, provide guidance, direction and input on expenditure, accounting, reporting and governance matters.
  • The project finance manager is accountable for making suitable plans, technology improvements, and handling finance-related activities. The Finance Manager supervise finance-related operations, from planning until implementation and assures on-time completion of projects with an assigned budget. He/she requires a proper balance of organization skills, financial expertise, and the ability to set schedules.
  • The financial project manager role is to thoroughly analyse the financial data prepared by the accountants, monitor the financial status of the project, and implement financial status.
  • This role will also will cooperate closely the Project Manager with the operational project management activities, and deputise for the Project Manager when required.
  • Ability to analyse financial data to provide the most suitable financial advice for the management and programme team, and ability to explain the link between the results analysis and the advice provided.
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • University degree in the field of Finance and / or Accounting or Business Administration with specialization in Finance/ Accounting
  • Minimum 8-10 years working experience in the field of Finance
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in managing projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in budgeting, project accounting and financial reporting procedures for large, complex projects and efficient systems for international funds transfer
  • Ability to liaise with donor agencies and national government agencies
  • Very good command of English & Arabic, written and spoken
  • Leadership experience such as; setting work objectives for or with the team members, ensuring and monitoring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Good knowledge of local accounting law and tax regulations
  • Readiness to travel inside/outside Sudan
  • Previous work experience with an international NGO is an asset
  • Previous work with emergency projects
  • Experience in project management; or leading projects within multiple locations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment
  • Ability to develop concepts and capability of presenting information in clear and logical manner
  • Ability to deal with conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, in particular MS Excel
  • Positive working attitude and ability to work under high pressure
  • Pro-active and self-motivated to learn and acquire additional competences needed for the job
  • Contribute to maintaining a good working environment.
  • Knowledge or experience in using Accounting Systems (Microsoft Dynamic NAV knowledge is an asset)

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FINANCIAL PROJECT MANAGER ARE:

Financial planning:

Financial planning involves preparing and supervising the Project’s financial plan that projects expenditures and revenues, investments, and cash flow. He/she should be able to come up with cost-benefit analysis concerning project across various activities.

Scheduling and organizing:

Scheduling and handling project timelines is a vital aspect of the financial project manager duties. He/she work in correlation with the team members and the Project Manger to implement project timelines and ensure that the team meets milestones all through the project lifecycle. It is the responsibility of the financial project manager to prevent delays and make sure that deliverables are completed as per the schedule.

Budget management:

Finance project manager is skilled with budgeting skills and financial management to assist the teams in completing the project, considering the budget, and oversee the project’s financial performance. He/she handles revenue and expenditure to make well-informed decisions about emerging opportunities and areas for improvement.

Team leadership:

The primary task of finance project managers is to develop and work with project various team members. He/she coordinate across various departments and motivate the staff members to complete the projects considering external and internal deadlines.

Efficiency improvements:

The Project finance manager look for methods to improve the overall efficiency and performance of the project. This means coming up with cost-saving opportunities at the project level. He/she ascertain the areas for improvement and identify solutions to avoid project delays and help to meet the project cash flow goals.
