 Duties and responsibilities:

Perform tasks not covered in this job description and provide support to other departments when necessary and as requested.

Main Responsibilities:

Initiate planning for longer-term GBV prevention and response activities, including referral pathways and standard operating procedures.

Maintain, monitor and measure GBV project implementation and contribute to effective information management on GBV survivors

Closely work with case management officer and ensure that staff implement and respect best-practice and international standards in GBV prevention and response.

Participate in the design of project activities, monitoring systems, and capacity-building activities for partners, community members, and children.

Assist the GBV team in the development and testing of Behavior Change Communication (BCC) materials on GBV and violence prevention for the camp communities.

Oversee awareness-raising activities and support the development of messaging.

Develop and maintain an effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders, CBO and local NGOs and service providers.

Develop and maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including GOI, Donors, partner agencies, community structures and service provider

Identify and report success stories.

Document best practices and lessons learned


Overall responsible for the planning, implementation, and follow up of the NCA Family Support Unit in Qayyarh Airstrip Camp.

Provide oversight and monitoring of all GBV activities in mentioned location.

Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of monthly and weekly activity plans for the Family Support Unit to achieve expected results. This includes planning of activities and follow up with procurement;

Responsible for supporting, monitoring, budgetary compliance, and data collection of project;

GBVIMS and information management responsible in NCA GBV Programme in Iraq;

Line management responsibilities for NCA Family Support Unit staff in (psychosocial worker, psychologist and/or psychiatrist.

Liaise with camp management, local authorities and relevant stakeholders, participate in coordination meetings, within the field of GBV, protection, camp management in Erbil and Qayyarh, and


With a focus on North Iraq- Ninawa area, Qayyarh Airstrip camp;

Provide leadership to the Family Support Unit (FSU):

Development of monthly and weekly work plans for the FSU, including monitoring of progress against logframe and project documents;

Lead and follow up the preparation of all procurement and administrative documents required for FSU, including prepare PR, and other necessary logistic support documents for submission to Logistics Manager and GBV manager;

Ensure that all planned activities such as psychosocial, community outreach, including community (women, men and volunteers) committees, case management and mental health services are implemented on time, to quality measures and within budget as per the monthly plan; and

Personnel responsible for all FSU staff.

Ensure that GBV programme interventions meet with cultural sensitivity and respect the dignity of vulnerable women, children and families and members of the host communities at all times;

Where challenges/ issues arise (staffing/ work/ workplace), ensure that these are flagged early, communicated to the GBV Manager and addressed in an appropriate way;

Submit timely project and budget monthly reports for FSU to GBV Manager;

Manage the Gender Based Violence Information Management Systems (GBVIMS) records belong to Qayyarh project.

Prepare monthly GBVIMS reports;

Consolidate GBVIMS reports from partners and FSU;

Develop and maintain the mental health database for FSU, including preparing monthly reports; and

Ensure that all programme data are properly, safely and regularly collected and stored by FSU staff.

Liaise and coordinate with local government authorities, camp management and other stakeholders in Nineveh, particularly in Qayyarh and

Backstop GBV Manager and act on her/his behalf as and when needed.


Other tasks within the GBV Officer’s capacity, and in agreement with the GBV Manager.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

University Degree in gender Studies, psychology, sociology or Social Work, Master’s degree would be an asset.

Diploma holders in social sciences with strong GBV experience will also be considered.

Fluency in English, Arabic, including writing clear and concise reports.

minimum 2-4 years’ experience in related field. NGO experience is a plus

Excellent computer skills (Excel, word, power point and outlook)

Able to lead, train, supervise, facilitate and motivate GBV Community Workers in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner.

Able to work as part of a team.

Willing to work in a hardship area.

Clear understanding of gender, abuse of power, and issues surrounding violence against women

Able to maintain confidentiality, medical ethics, and respect for clients at all times.
