Description

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Ensure grade control drilling samples are sampled, collected, and sent to the assay lab and results converted into mineable ore blocks to be pegged appropriately in the blasted area for mine
  • Manage grade control function in several satellite pits within the mine through effective blast holes sampling and face mapping and maintain and update a Grade Control Model
  • Plan and supervise sterilization drilling around the pit areas.
  • Liaise with mine planning and operations to ensure all grade control issues are handled in a professional manner.
  • Ensure an effective blending strategy is adopted to maximize throughput and gold production
  • Provide Lithological Models Works closely with short term and production engineers to optimize operating development and maximize ore extraction to optimum grades.
  • Conduct Pit mapping, pit face geology and pit geotechnical mapping.
  • Geological Database Management
  • Mine to Mill Reconciliation
  • Probable Reserve and Grade Control drilling (work program development, program execution, contractor management, budget monitoring, periodic reporting, budget development, drill team safety) including sterilization drilling in mine periphery.
  • Responsible for Head grade to Mill, production reconciliation, pit reconciliation, and historical reconciliation
  • Reconcile volumes between survey measure and actual count.
  • Reconcile declared ore mined/grade control model/resource model
  • End of Month – Mine to Mill reconciliation
  • Calculate dilution and ore loss per each pit mined and for the month.
  • Ensure all required periodic (daily, monthly and yearly) reporting is completed and distributed on time.
  • Grade Control QAQC
  • Contribute to ongoing geological improvement by analyzing existing processes and offering suggestions for enhancements
  • Staff Development & promotion and development of skills of subordinates through the transfer of technology and skill development through on-the-job training programs.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices.

 

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or similar
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar mine geology based roles within mine operations, experience in narrow vein gold deposits very essential.
  • Experience in grade control activities and must be fully versed with mine to mill procedures
  • Exploration experience desirable
  • Blast whole sampling and face mapping experience.
  • A demonstrated ability to supervise drilling contractors
  • A demonstrated ability to supervise geological personnel
  • Knowledge of geological software skills such as
  1. Surpac – essential
  2. MinePro, Datamine, Surfer, ACAD
  • MS Excel Spreadsheet proficiency
  • Must speak English and Arabic
