 Background:

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualifiedSub Base Coordinator to oversee programming in a sub-base in Central Darfur. The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been operational in Sudan since 2004. The programme focuses predominantly on the conflict-affected population living outside of camps in the rural areas.

 Duties and responsibilities:

The Sub-base Coordinator will be responsible for the overall facilitation of DRC operations in the Sub-base, with the support and guidance of the Base Manager. This role must work in close coordination with Sector Managers and the Supply Chain Manager.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

 

  • University Degree (Bachelors) in Social Sciences or Management.
  • Minimum four (4) years of work experience within the humanitarian/development sector, including:
    • At least two (2) years’ experience coordinating emergency programming activities.
    • At least two (2) years of experience managing all aspects of a field office, including human resources, finances, logistics, administration and programme supervision.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (speaking, writing, reading).
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to professionally and appropriately represent the organization and negotiate and defend DRC’s interestsin line with the Humanitarian Principles.
  • Strong knowledge of the local context, experience managing safety is an advantage.
