Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Khartoum, the direct supervisionof the Head of Humanitarian Response and Transition (HRT), in coordination with relevant unitsin IOM Sudan, the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination andimplementation of IOM Sudan health programme activities and projects.Core Functions / Responsibilities:1. Implement health operations in IOM Sudan. This will include the coordination, monitoring andsupervision of the timely implementation of health activities; such as:Page 1 / 5o Provision of primary health care through mobile teams and/or fixed clinic services for InternallyDisplaced Person (IDPs), returnees, migrants and other vulnerable groups.o Facilitating procurement, storage and distribution of medicines and medical supplies;maintaining an inventory of partners and goods distributed.o Following up health referrals, facilitating emergency transport to/from nearest health facilities.o Supporting the enhancement of access to health care services and facilities.2. Inform the CoM and Head of HRT of ongoing or emerging health needs of IDPs, migrants,returnees and other affected communities to facilitate effectiveness, coherence, integrity and thebuilding of linkages with other relevant programmes.3. Conduct preliminary assessments of the health needs of migrants and displaced population,including priority causes of ill-health; draft and suggest plans to address these.4. Participate in mission level multi-sectoral assessments, providing health related technicalinformation on programmatic areas of intervention.5. Provide technical inputs and compile information for the elaboration and implementation ofmigration health risk surveillance strategies and mechanisms that strengthen preparedness andresponse, and avoid and mitigate these risks.6. Maintain strong and regular liaison with relevant counterparts, including the Sudan Ministry ofHealth (SMoH), World Health Organization (WHO), health cluster, UN agencies, andinternational and national non-governmental organisations working in the health and otherrelevant sectors.7. Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the quality of health care provided to IOMbeneficiaries and bring to the attention of supervisor any issues with compliance to national andIOM global standards.8. Participate in relevant health sector meetings and forums and maintain coordination andcooperation with counterparts and participate in IOM internal coordination meetings.9. Maintain relevant information sharing channels in close coordination with the Chief of Missionand other IOM Sudan programme managers.10. Responsible for the documentation of health activities implemented including collection ofage/sex disaggregated data in line with IOM data protection guidelines.11. Draft and submit activity (narrative) reports on project achievements, challengesencountered, pertinent developments and strategic needs on a quarterly basis.12. In coordination with the Head of HRT and IOM Sudan Programme Support Unit, participatein the identification of new programme and project possibilities and contribute to theformulation/development of health specific as well as multi-sector proposals and the collection ofrequested documentation for submission to donors according to IOM project developmentguidelines and procedures.13. Facilitate and encourage the mainstreaming of migration in relevant health policies,strategies and planning processes as well as health in relevant migration policies, strategies andplanning processes in the country.14. Research potential entry points for expanded collaboration and/or new project developmentin close coordination with local health authorities and partners.15. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.Required Qualifications and Experience:Page 2 / 5Education

  • Master's degree in Public Health or related field from an accredited academic institution with

two years of relevant professional experience; or

  • University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience;
  • University degree in Medicine would be considered as an added advantage.

Experience

  • Two to four years of professional experience in the domain of global public health and

migration health related issues, including in the context of humanitarian situations;

  • Experience in the implementation and management of a large and complex health programme;
  • Proven skills in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and establishing and maintaining working

relations with senior government officials, UN agencies, Non-Governmental Organisations(NGOs) and Donors, including familiarity with the humanitarian cluster system;

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, approach, and coordinate with stakeholders of diverse

backgrounds and levels of expertise;

  • Previous work experience with communicable and noncommunicable disease control is a

strong advantage.LanguagesIOM's official languages are English, French, and Spanish.For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
