 Background:

To contribute to the reduction of mortality and morbidity caused by poor water, sanitation, and hygiene practices.

The overall objective of the post is to develop and ensure the implementation of the project in order to achieve the results in accordance with the project proposal.

 Duties and responsibilities:
Responsibility 1: Accountable for achieving objectives, delivering results and implementing all activities described in project documents.

  • To ensure the smooth running of the tasks according to the financial reporting and financing cycle of the project according to the rules and procedures.
  • Ensure planning and monitoring according to implementation guidelines and other procedures
  • To ensure the follow-up of the subcontracted activities, as well as the quality of the works (supplies and services) and is a guarantee of their sustainability.
  • Ensure the follow-up and evaluation of actions and drafting of ad hoc activity reports.
  • Participate in monitoring the security context of the area and propose appropriate measures to ensure maximum security for his team.
  • Capitalize, synthesize and disseminate information in the following ways:
  • Compile project data, analyze and write activity-based capitalization reports.
  • Participate in AAH internal general meetings and external meeting (INGOs, governmental bodies and UN agencies).
  • To capitalize on the technical and training tools, as well as the experiences developed within the framework of the project.
  • Day to day monitoring of activities with monthly, quarterly and midterm reports
  • Contribute to needs assessment and the drafting of new project proposals with budget.

Responsibility 2: Provide support for the development and implementation of AAH's strategy in the intervention zone.

  • Ensuring the identification and intervention strategy to cover areas and disciplines not yet covered by ongoing actions;

To monitor the humanitarian situation in the area and propose the guidelines for action it deems necessary in the light of developments in the situation.

Responsibility 3: Ensure the good cohesion, information, training and organization of his/her team in order to achieve objectives and results.

  • Train and supervise local partner staff and community volunteers;
  • Develop the team's work schedule;
  • Provide technical and methodological support to the project team ;
  • Ensure the proper management and use of work equipment;

Comply with the specific security rules of the mission and base security plan, ensure that the personnel in their charge comply with the plan and carry out security management tasks that may be added to the protocols.

Responsibility 4: Ensure communication and complementarity with other stakeholders in the intervention area

  • Relay the organization's activities and objectives to communities and local partners;
  • Develop contacts and explain to local partners and the population the activities and objectives of the project;
  • Representing the organization to the beneficiaries/partners with the agreement of the direct manager ;
  • To popularize all the actions and interventions carried out by the organization in the state.
  • Participate in any other task related to the project and activities of AAH in the state
  • To defend the points of view developed by AAH-Sudan i.e. the basic principles of AAH Sudan and the positions developed during the progress of the programme, in consultation between himself/herself, the line manager and the rest of the team.

Actively participate in State level in the technical working groups WASH coordination and flood meetings and WASH relevant to policy forums.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Qualification/Training:

Hydro geology or civil engineer and/or experience in the field of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in general and/or HWT and WIS in particular.

 

Technical specific knowledge:

  • Knowledge of water and sanitation, nutrition, gender and protection appreciated.
  • Knowledge of information Education and Communication (IEC)- Community Change Channels (CCC) awareness techniques
  • Knowledge of HWT techniques
  • Knowledge of PHAST, Baby WASH, and CHAST approaches as asset.

Previous experience (years):

  • At least 4 years of proven experience in WASH intervention
  • Proven experience in team management and human resources management
  • Previous experience in WIS and/or HWT projects would be an asset.
  • Preparation of BOQs, materials/equipment specifications, and dealing with contractors
  • Previous experience in CLTS/CATS approach an asset
  • Previous experience in intervention would be an asset
